“…Wisniewski is a witty storyteller who pauses frequently to share a particularly juicy detail—Neanderthal surprises, animal artists, gruesome cabinets of curiosity, the wonders of rap music, the science of brain waves. Especially moving is Wisniewski’s spotlight on artists who struggled terribly in their lifetime and are now among the most revered…Even scholars will likely learn something new…Recommended. All readers.”

Choice Reviews

Journal of Art in Society

“…an ambitious project, but succeeds due to the author’s clear devotion to his subject…inspiring stuff…after reading The Art of Looking at Art for a few chapters, you too will become a ’groupie.’”

AND…you can watch my lecture “Art, Architecture, and the Politics of Grandeur in the Age of Louis XIV” for free anytime on my YouTube channel. This informative and entertaining talk discusses how Louis used not just art and architecture, but fashion, very long walks, and dance steps to keep his courtiers in line. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9h8BqOh5yXAD1DkpA-kjyw

FINALLY—My recently completed series of Abstracted Tarot Cards will be on display at Ispresso on Park, 4701 Park Ave., Union City, NJ, from October 1 through October 31. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 1, from 2 PM-5 PM. The extraordinary Tim Cusack https://www.instagram.com/tpcflip/ will be giving “suggested donation” readings at the opening, as well as at the closing reception on October 31 (Halloween!). I’m not using the word “extraordinary” lightly here—Tim’s read my cards and let’s just say it was freaky. He reads at Ispresso every Saturday between noon and five, and is available for private consultations.
